Empowering Parents: Navigating the Teenage Years
Parenting teenagers can be challenging, but with the right tools and support, it can also be incredibly rewarding. Our Parents Plus Adolescents Programme is designed to help parents of young people aged 12-19 build stronger relationships and create a positive home environment. This 9-week workshop covers a range of essential topics, including:
- Understanding Teenagers: Gain insights into the developmental changes and challenges faced by teenagers.
- Pressing the Pause Button: Learn techniques to manage stress and respond calmly in difficult situations.
- Getting to Know Your Teenager: Discover ways to connect and communicate effectively with your teenager.
- Establishing Rules: Create clear and fair rules that promote respect and cooperation.
- Positive Communication: Use positive language to reinforce rules and expectations.
- Encouragement and Consequences: Understand the power of encouragement and how to use consequences effectively.
Workshop Details:
- When? Mondays, 12:30-2:30pm, starting 13th January 2025
- Where? Bodmin Family Hub, PL31 2JB or virtually on Microsoft Teams
Each session is 2 hours long and offers the flexibility to attend in-person or online. Topics covered include active listening, creating a discipline plan, empowering teenagers, dealing with conflict and aggression, problem-solving, establishing routines, and parent self-care.
